Recruiting news regarding the SEC normally is reserved for the football programs. Two players changed that the last two nights – Terrance Ferguson and Mustapha Heron.

Both highly touted recruits announced they would end their recruitment in the same state one-day apart.

Heron committed to Auburn on Sunday during his official visit over the weekend via his instagram account. Ferguson announced his pledge to Alabama via Twitter.

The 6-foot-6 Ferguson, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, is a top-15 prospect with freakish athleticism. His ability to also shoot the ball should not be overlooked since he is considered the No. 2 best shooter in the Class of 2016. Ferguson has played the last three seasons at Prime Prep in Texas and for MWA Elite on the travel circuit.

Before committing to Alabama, Ferguson was considering Kansas, Louisville, North Carolina and Baylor.

On Sunday, Heron became the third player from the Class of 2016 to commit to Auburn. He considered St. John’s, Mississippi State, Maryland and Marquette. Heron de-committed from Pittsburgh in the spring.

The West Haven, Connecticut product, who is ranked in the top-30 nationally, joins Georgia natives Jared Harper and Anfernee McLemore as players verbally committed to Tigers head coach Bruce Pearl.

Heron is a physical player who will provided toughness and a scoring punch Auburn has been looking for. He is a relentless worker and understands how to finish. Many have dubbed Heron the next James Beard. The Auburn faithful will love watching this lefty on the court.
