Athens, GA – When people see Greenforest on the schedule, many presume the Eagles’ length will cause issues. This is an accurate speculation since Greenforest has the tallest roster in the state.
However, the rest of the roster has solid guard play like Michael Robinson. He set the tone from the opening tip and led the Eagles to a dominating performance over Doughtery, 61-32, in the Georgia Interstate Hoops Classic.
Robinson, a junior, played relentless defense helping to ignite the offense. This allowed him to push the tempo and get others involved in the open floor. His ball pressure overwhelmed the Trojans. He registered a team-high 15 points by making three 3-pointers, earning the Most Valuable Player award.
Elijah Lloyd scored 12 points. DK Manyiel-Dut, a Georgia State signee, finished with eight points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks. Mississippi State signee Gai Chol finished had four points, seven rebounds, and eight blocks.
Doughtery could never get into any offensive rhytm or set against the Eagles pressure. The South Georgia team was led by Maurice Davis and Markell Jones, who scored nine points respectively.
