Kamar Baldwin just wanted to find a place to call home.

He did that Thursday night. The Georgia native became the fourth commit for Butler.

After taking an official visit and taking the opportunity to look at where some other players were committing, Baldwin just felt the Bulldogs were a better fit.

He also considered Clemson, Ole Miss and Providence.

“I like their campus,” Baldwin said. “It is not too big. It has a nice small feel.”

The Apalachee High product had a strong junior campaign averaging 27 per game. On the Adidas Uprising Gauntlet series, he averaged eight points and four rebounds per game. His scoring improved in July averaging 11 points and four rebounds a game, while he played for the Atlanta Celtics Neysmith.

“I felt playing on the circuit helped me out a lot,” Baldwin said. “There are great players all on the circuit. When you paly against good players it allows you to show your talent.”

The 6-foot-2 guard joins Henry Baddley, Howard Washington and Joey Brunk as the players who have verbally committed to the Indianapolis based program. Butler was always the leader in Baldwin’s eyes.

Being inside Hinkle Fieldhouse allowed Baldwin to imagine the energy in the historical gym. Despite never seeing “Hoosiers,” he pictured Hinkle being load during Big East play.

“It felt like a place that would get crazy,” he said. “I know a little bit about the Big East. I know every conference game will be a tough one.”

Getting this decision done takes the weight off Baldwin’s shoulders.

“I am happy to get it over with,” he said. “You don’t have to worry about everyone calling you. It is great to have a home after my senior year of high school.”
