POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. – The theme for North Cobb girls basketball program is summarized in a word: growth.
After a tough 5-15 record last season, the Lady Warriors went to work on some things this summer. The Lady Warriors got into the gym physically and skillfully. They worked on getting stronger by hitting the weights. North Cobb was looking to get stronger. Being physically stronger was a mindset needed through a tough season. They did not want to get pushed around any longer.
Then after getting through the reps in the weight room, the Lady Warriors got reps in on the hardwood. They just focused on getting their skills tight, while knocking down jumper after jumper. All of this work is something North Cobb is looking to, not only display but make sure it helps secure a few more wins.
The goal is to get back in the state playoffs. John Speeney is entering his 16th season at the school and eight as the Lady Warriors head coach.
“Growth is all parts of the game,” he said of the summer work. “These girls have put in a lot of time. It is a complete growth in every part of the their game, which has me excited.”
