Cartersville, GA – Coming off a .500 season, the Cartersville High boys basketball program is looking to peak later in the year. The Hurricanes have a slew of players returning under head coach Mike Tobin.
Cartersville opens the season on Tuesday, November 19 against Carrollton in its home-opener.
The Canes finished the regular-season second in Region 7-AAAAA last season. They won the region championship but were eliminated from the Georgia High School Association playoffs in the first-round. Tobin has an experienced bunch returning focused on making a deeper run in the postseason.
Cartersville has seven players returning in Nas Bennett, Jake Johnson, AJ Cowart, Logan Van Pelt, Will Bishop, Kaden Baldwin, and Zac Tolbert. The Canes also have added 6-foot-4 guard Wyatt Thomason. These guys have been in enough tough games in a Canes uniform to make the next push.
”We’re looking to get better daily,” Tobin said. “Hopefully, to compete for a region championship in February and March.”
