Norcross, GA – Central Gwinnett second half surge and defensive stop helps secure a 72-70 win over St. Pius X on Saturday night at On the Radar Tip-off Classic hosted by Norcross.

The Black Knights (3-2) have won three in a row. Starting the season with two loses were learning lessons for this Central Gwinnett squad.

“We’re just learning,” Black Knights coach Marcus Spivey said. “That’s the biggest thing with this group. A lot of them have not been in this situation. We did a good job not folding under pressure.”

Central Gwinnett also got necessary spark from Brayden Holiday (16 points) and Denovian Flowers (16 points). They combined for 32 points and gave the Black Knights the energy they needed to continue its winnings streak.

“The main thing is to continue winning ball games,” Spivey said. “This is three in a row.”

St. Pius X was lead by D’Marley Elliott’s 20 points. Aiden Portee chipped with 14 points.
