MANHEIM, PA – The battle for New Jersey was being settled in Pennsylvania.
Sports U and the New Jersey Playaz locked up in the 16U finals at Spook Nook Sports. While both teams were not going to give the other much of an edge, the Playaz finally held on for a 62-56 win.
“We came out and responded well,” coach Vincent Johnson. “I thought these guys responded. The guys played well and responded well.”
The Playaz got a lot of production from the guards against a relentless Sports U defense. Ja’Quaye James led the Playaz with 19 points. He also got help from RJ Cole who finished with 15 points.
We’ve been asking our point guards to lead.
“Our guys are competing,” Johnson said. “I’m proud of them.”
The next stop for the Playaz is Live in AC.
Miles Mitchell-White scored a team-high 12 points to led Sports U.
