Central girls secure back-to-back Jr. NBA US championships

ORLANDO, FL – Central had some pressure coming into the Jr. NBA Global Championship.

It was told to go get the United States Championship, since the region won it last year.

Mission accomplished.

Central beat the West 73-57. They advance to the Global Championship Sunday in a quest to win back-to-back titles.

Jada Williams helped lead the Central team to victory with suffocating defense and always playing downhill on offense. Williams recorded a team-high 16 points. Chloe Clardy had 15 points. Kiara Smith added 12 points. Smya Nichols contributed with 11 points.

The West attempted to make a comeback but it struggled against Central’s defense. They turned the ball over 20 times against Central’s full court press.

Central’s biggest lead was 16-2.

Leading the ways for the West was Judea Watkins. The Los Angeles native scored a game-high 23 points. Teammate Breya Cunningham registered a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
