ORLANDO, FL – Africa has imposed its will on all the international competition at the Jr. NBA Global Championship it has not let up.
This effort and mindset is why handled, a once undefeated Canada team, 80-46. The win secured Africa’s second consecutive Jr. NBA International Championship. They also become the first international team to win two titles in a row.
“This is a big experience for us,” Africa coach Samba Fall said. “Our goal is to win the championship this year. Last year, we had an good team but we only had five good players. This year, our bench is young and good.”
Africa won with its aggressive defense and balance scoring. Leading the way was guard Back bacar Djiby Ly, who had a team-high 15 points. Marouf Moumine and Dieu Merci Bolisomi Llonga scored 14 points apiece. Khadim Rassoul Diongue chipped in with 11 points.
This collective effort is why Africa has dominated teams all week.
Canada was led by Remil Tissington, who scored a game-high 20 points.
Africa just dominated the entire game from the opening tip. It never looked back despite Canada’s attempt to stop Moumine, who was the tournaments leading scorer and Africa’s best player. However, he did not let the extra attention bother him.
“I showed everyone in this game I can pass the ball more,” Moumine said. “I was able to show I have some good teammates.”
