MARIETTA, GA – The first day of the Live Period had college coaches posted up looking for players at On the Radar Hoops Sweet 16 at McEachern High School.
Those coaches had a chance to see players bring their best efforts of the only Live Period before July. Here are some players who caught our attention.
Charlotte Aces 68, Miami City Ballers 55: 2020 Maurice Brown filled up the stat sheet as shots reigned from all over the floor. The Phillip O. Berry High School Academy of Technology product scored a team=high 20 points. Many of those points came from beyond the three-point line knocking down five shots from every possible angle. At 6=feet, Brown can also create and get teammates scoring opportunities.
Backcourt mate 2020 Darius Best benefitted from Brown’s decisions. The 6-foot-1 Best scored 18 points. These two are accustomed to playing with each other since they are high school teammates.
2020 Avoree Wilson (Carol City High) was impressive in the Miami City Ballers opening game. Scoring 20 points on array of ways knocking down three three-pointers from deep and scoring at will getting to the basket.
2021 Arturo Dean (South Miami) is potentially one of the quickest point guards on the floor. The 5-foot-10 floor general gets to the basket with limited resistance. He scored 18 points mostly through traffic.
Game Elite Blue 59, Team YRN 58: Myson Lowe was key in helping secure the win. The 5-foot-9, from Cumberland Christian, scored 20 points including the game-winning free throws down the stretch.
2020 Javari Brown (Johns Creek High) was a sniper from the perimeter knocking down four three-pointers for 12 points. Marvin McGee, a junior at Mays High, scored 11 points in the victory.
Other noteables:
2020 Shakur Poteat (Edgewater High) scored a team-high 22 points with six assists. The 6-foot-1 guard kept Nike Elite Stars defenders off balance dishing off impressive passes for easy baskets.
2020 Erin Clark (Oak Ridge HS) had an impressive stat line of 13 points, four assists and two steals. 2020 Navuan Peterson (Edgewater High) had 10 points and three assists.
