LaMelo Ball is taking his talents to Ohio.

The California native is enrolling at Spire Institute in Ohio after playing professionally overseas.

Ball told SLAM magazine, “I’m excited to return to school and rejoin my class on the court for my senior year. Playing international competition was a great experience. I learned and matured so much.”

Ball last played high school basketball for Chino Hill High School (California) in October. Melo has a memorable scoring night while he played for Chino Hill scoring a career-high 92-points at the age of 15. Then, after his brother – LiGelo Ball – was suspended indefinitely from UCLA, they signed with BC Vytautas in Lithuania.

Their journey was documented on Facebook with “Ball in the Family.” In his time in Europe, Melo struggled in making the adjustments to professional life. He sat on the bench more often than his father, LaVar, cared for.

After the season in Lithuania, Melo played for the Junior Basketball Association (JBA) started by his father. The league has ceased operation and according to reports Melo was never paid in Lithuania or by the JBA.

Melo can play for SPIRE since it is not part of the Ohio High School Athketic Association. It is an independent school.
