PHILADELPHIA, PA – July got off to a solid start in the City of Brotherly Love with Elevate Hoops Summer Icebreaker. Teams laced them up, while college coaches positioned themselves to see the next prospect on their wish list.

Clifton Moore Jr. is a name many of these coaches found themselves inquiring about at the end of Wednesday at Philadelphia University.

The 6-foot-9 forward was considered an under the radar prospect. After 32 minutes of showing college coaches wanted to know more about the Philadelphia native. He gave them a sample of his abilities on both ends of the floor.

Coming into the week, Moore had offers from LaSalle, Temple, Loyola, Princeton, George Mason, Lafayette, Binghamton, NJIT, Navy, Quinnipiac, Southern and Rider. Expect that to change as coaches really made a point to inquire more about the Hatbor-Horsham product.

Williams continues to impress

The talk all spring and summer has been Malik Williams. At 7-feet, he has garnered the attention from nearly every school in the Big 10 and anyone else looking for a big.

The Fort Wayne, Indiana native scored from the inside, found teammates, blocked shots and knocked down deep jumpers. His poise along with his Legit Basketball teams relentless effort nearly brought them to victory.

College coaches from around the country were in attendance like Louisville’s Rick Pitino, Purdue’s Matt Painter and NC State Matt Gottfried among others in to watch the Fort Wayne Snider product. Williams will not cut his list until August.

Morsell hard to stop

Team Melo’s Darryl Morsell plays the game all out.

The 6-foot-5 guard finishes at the rim with authority, is a lock down defender and just rebounds in areas beyond his own. Morsell was only slowed by a minor finger injury but it wasn’t enough to keep him off the floor long.

This is part of the reason college coaches made it a point to get a front row seat. Morsell has offers from James Madison, Daytona, Southern Cal, Temple, Central Florida, LaSalle and Davidson.

Other noteables

NY Ionians Omar ElSheik was impressive in the teams opening night. The 6-foot-7 Knox High product has a relentless motor. He also has a nice touch around the rim.

Yazid Powell is a name many people will need to track in the future. the 2018 prospect was like an energizer bunny on both ends of the floor for Team Philly. At 6-foot-2, the Boys Latin Charter product exerts a ton of energy on both ends of the floor.
