Jr Prelude Session I standout point guards

Cordova, TN – Every quality team needs a quality floor general. These are leaders who make the team go and they orchestra the offense will putting teammates in the proper way to be successful. During the Jr. Prelude Session I had impressive point guards on display.

A traditional point guard has a pass-first mentality but has a healthy blend of facilitating and scoring the ball while making the correct reads.

Wechsler has the keys to the Maserati in running the Texas-based program. His presence is impeccable to the team’s success. He always plays hard and is not afraid to get into the mix defensively. Wechsler had one of the best shooting performances of the weekend nailing seven three-pointers for a game-high 22 points.

Silva was sensational in leading Elev8 Elite. He handled the ball like it was on a string like a yo-yo. His pace of play was calculated. Defenders struggled to keep in front of him. Silva’s basketball IQ is a lot bigger and mature than his vitals. His game resembles former Oregon and current Boston Celtics player Payton Pritchard. Ironically, he sported an Oregon backpack all weekend.

Harris plays with a good pace and handles the attention relatively flawlessly. He protected the ball through double teams before splitting them to throw a dime to a teammate or a scoring opportunity for himself. Harris, known as Juice, is fearless and is not going to back down in any way.

Williams is truly one of the more entertaining players in the position to watch. He plays with so much freedom and speed. His eyes are always looking to get the ball up the floor quickly. When he is shifty through traffic like a car dashing through interstate traffic. His low center of gravity made it hard for defenders to take the ball away from him. Williams has a good offensive package and a nice-looking jumper. His demeanor resembles that of current NBA All-Star Steph Curry.

Loftin is creative with the basketball. His ability to escape any added pressure was impressive most of the time. He gets through tight spots to eventually a solid finish. Loftin could see the extra attention coming and would escape without losing any control. Look for his game to continue to grow with more time in the gym.

Things may not have always worked out well for Harris but it did not discourage this youngster from keeping the team together. He made sure to get his teammates the ball in the right situations. Whenever he wasn’t setting them up, Harris looked for opportunities to contribute in scoring the ball. He knocked down the shots the defense was giving him.
