Tip-off Classic Notebook: Unsigned Seniors

By Robert Alfonso Jr.

Suwanee, GA – The largest independent travel event of the spring brings together teams from all over the country to Atlanta looking for some excellent competition. Many teams take the opportunity to measure their own skills.

The different changes in recruiting, however, have several players still playing and looking for a chance to catch someone’s eye. Here are some players who stood out as unsigned seniors.

Justin Johnson | 2023 | SOH Elite | Hillcrest Prep

The moment you see him there is such a different temperature on the floor. Things are turned up a little hotter when he’s on the floor. His activity on both ends of the floor will help a team win. He is a competitor and a winner while averaging 15 points a game in the games played. Johnson’s game translates.

Isaac Taveras | 2023 | Team Huncho | NFEI

This Dominican Republic native was playing on a different level. Taveras is an explosive guard with a silky smooth feel for the game. This North Florida Educational Institute product finishes at the rim and does so many things to attract attention. College programs looking for a high-level floor general will want to check in on this talented young man because he will not be available for long.

Parrish Johnson Jr | 2023 | AC Georgia | Kell

The unsigned senior guard has moved onto the ball and is playing the point. Johnson handled the ball really well during the times on the floor. He looked confident handling the ball while playing with pace. Playing for a state championship title helped Johnson play with poise.

Grant Randall | 2023 | Team Scoot | Mount Pisgah

At 6-foot-9, Randall is an intriguing along with impressive prospect. He showed the ability to handle the ball and score consistently throughout the game. His length is disruptive on both ends of the floor. A college program will get this small forward on the roster and see his skill packet is pretty deep.

Justin McCarter | 2023 | Smyrna Stars | Osborne

After a successful senior campaign, the 6-foot-6 combo guard jumped out early in the opening game dropping 31 points. He finished the weekend averaging 19 points a game. This young man is athletic and explosive. He plays downhill while also being able to score at all three levels on the floor. Carter is a stat sheet filler on both ends of the floor.

Kaleel Stillman | 2023 | Southeast Elite | OCP

Being an active big man at 6-foot-10 is something many college programs are looking for in players on the recruiting trail. Many of them need to look into the energetic Orlando Christian Prep interior player. His plays impact both ends of the floor. He is a solid rebounder and shot blocker. Two things you rarely find in players his size. Look for Stillman to catch more attention as the travel season picks up steam.

Christian Bacon | 2023 | Smyrna Stars | Cumberland Christian

Christian is a shifty guard with an explosive first-step. He handles the ball well in traffic while finding players in excellent scoring positions. He dished out 10 assists and averaged nearly seven assists per game on the weekend.
