ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – Balance seemed to be the key for Rock Elite as it was closing out the summer.
The Rockland County, New York based program had a number of players get into the scorebook. This helped as it beat Team Future 47-30 to win the Boardwalk Bracket championship at Richard Stockton University in Atlantic City.
“I tried to keep them motivated and to get them to play with each other,” Rock’s coach Artie Lloyd said. “No individual player can win a game.”
Rock Elite got everyone involved. Leading the way was Chauncy Hawkins, who finished with a team-high 10 points. Marcellus Earlightened add nine points. Issac Hippolyte chipped in with eight points.
“We like to let our guys know that sharing is caring,” Lloyd said. “It is easy to share with one another.”
While Rock Elite was sharing the ball it was doing what it needed to do in order to keep the ball away from Tem Future. This was a success and Future’s offense was stalled.
The only two players getting into any rhythm was Jamal McDermott (13 points) and Mike Werd (11 points) finished with double figures.
