POWDER SPRINGS, GA – The marathon continues!

These are the words of late great Nipsey Hustle. This is the motto many travel teams and college coaches are uttering during the second week of the July Live Period.

Many college coaches are looking for that player to help continue building to the program. The players on the floor are looking for an opportunity to put forth their best performance. Many played or attended On the Radar Hoops Elite 32 last weekend.

Some are returning for the Super 6 Showcase with teams playing at Hillgrove High, Kell High, McEachern High and Wheeler High.

Here are some independent programs and players to keep an eye on this weekend.

Can the Georgia Canes continue rolling?

The Georgia Canes 17U team went undefeated during the first week. Some would look at them and wonder how did they accomplish this feat?

Well, it started with them beating Texas Takeover and then upending the EYBL Nightrydas in triple overtime. Then they went on to beat West Coast Elite from the Under Armor Association. These are good wins no matter when the games are played. Doing it in front of college coaches helped the players.

Domonik Henderson was a catalyst to the teams success. The Monroe High product played consistently all week. He played well enough to will the Canes to some of those wins. Some college programs noted his performance as Albany State made the 6-foot-3 guard an offer.

AJ White showed the ability to run the point. The former Chattahoochee High standout scored more than 2,000 points and has won a state championship .This past weekend he was a tactical floor general. He will be attending a prep school next season so coaches need to tap into this prospect.

Zion Frustar is a stat filler. This Alexander High product makes plays all over the floor. The guard helps handle the press. He makes sound decisions. Fruster locks up on defense and is always applying offensive pressure to opponents.

Last week was a team effort. This weekend the Canes play MEBO, 1 Family, Team Georgia Magic and D Favors Celtics.

Can the run continue …

Three Team Dickerson squads loaded with talent

Team Dickerson has made plenty of noise this travel season, The small independent program has three teams loaded with talent.

Zach Bell and Noah Clownley are the notable names on the 17U squad. But after last weekend, people will need to track Kyle Burns and Jackson Greene.

Burns, from Wheeler High, showed off the ability to shoot the ball, handle the pressure and the athleticism against some of the tougher teams last weekend. Enough so that Radford University offered the combo guard.

Greene, of Lambert High, is a 6-foot-7 forward with a great touch around the rim. He showed the ability to battle with any opponent inside. His good footwork allowed him to sneak some shots beyond more athletic players.

The programs 16U program is talented as well. They will be playing in the 17U Division this weekend. They have point guard Kevin Anderson, who attends Legacy High. He handles the ball really well and plays with solid pace. If any college program is looking for a sniper they may want to check on Michael Zhang. The Jacksonville, FL native has been on fire from the perimeter all travel season. Don’t miss out on the show. Lastly, the length inside comes from Aaron Nomel. This 6-foot-8 Grovetown High product is a high energy athlete on both ends of the floor.

The 15U Dickerson Black team will be playing 17U too,. They are loaded with talent throughout the roster. Players like William Jobe, Khalil Green and Darren Douglas have already caught college coaches attention from their performances throughout the summer. Another name the needs to be added to the list Is William Hopkins. The 6-foot-4 Legacy High product has all the tools to play four positions on the floor. He has a high skillset which catches your attention immediately. Seeing this team playing two age groups up will be worth it in the end.

California Stars need all the love

California Stars Black may have been the surprise team of the first weekend. This team flew across the country and made a statement. They came to the Peach State with seven players. Those guys game to hoop.

They travelled back to the West Coast after their last game in the first week. Many were wondering if they would return and they are back. They will not disappoint.

Jed Miller shot the groves off the ball. He is poised and focused when on the floor against some relentless defenders.

Denim Dawson showed the ability to shoot from any where on the floor. It did not matter if he was wide open or being contested. He is a 6-foot-5 guard with plenty of athleticism.

Coaches, iff you’re looking for players who are ready to compete at the next level, this roster is loaded with guys you will enjoy recruiting.
