GAINESVILLE, GA – A global pandemic has not really stopped a dynamic duo from Georgia in Robert Reisman and Eli Pitts.
Since the start of the season, this duo has provided a level of consistency every coach would enjoy seeing. They share the role of being the top performer in a Gainesville uniform. It is certain after every game one of them is the leading scorer.
Reisman scored a game-high 25 points in the Red Elephants in the Tuesday night, 59-52, win over West Forsyth. Gainesville improved to 13-6 overall and 5-2 in AAAAAAA Region 6 behind South Forsyth.
This duo of Reisman and Pitts is not second to anyone. Regardless of the defensive schemes set up by other teams hasn’t completely stopped them. It may have slowed them some but a complete shutdown has been difficult.
“They are hard to guard,” West Forsyth coach Fredrick Hurt said. “Everyone in the league is having a hard time guarding them.”
There is a reason why this cohesive duo has become opposing coaches frustration. Reisman and Pitts know how to feed off of each other, even when they have bad moments. They are so connect they were named the co-MVP of the Lanierland Tournament after Gainesville won it for a fifth consecutive year.
But lets break down their game.
Pitts is the shooter. His range is one that requires respect. Opponents must guard him from beyond the three-point line. However, this does not mean he cannot put it on the floor and get to the rim, especially in the open court. Pitts is prone to embarrass a defender who may not think the Converse College signee can finish above the rim.
Reisman, who is unsigned, is more of the floor general on the floor. He handles a bulk of ball handling responsibilities. At 6-foot-3, Reisman can do a little bit of everything on the court. He runs the team well, can knock down jumpers and will also flush it on a defenders head.
Gainesville is one of the favorite to secure a sport in the Georgia High School Athletic Association playoffs. This will be a team contribution but it will be powered by the duo of Reisman and Pitts.
