After two years at Gardner-Webb, Jose Perez verbally committed to Marquette via his Twitter account.

Perez told 247sport.com, the Golden Eagles could help him become the best player possible. He enjoys Marquette head coach Steve Wojciechowski’s passion and energy, which matches his.

The Big East school beat out Georgia Tech, Illinois State, Iowa State, and Memphis for Perez’s commitment.

As a sophomore at Gardner-Webb, the 6-foot-5 Perez averaged 15.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. He shot nearly 45-percent from the field as a person while averaging nearly the same amount of points as a freshman.

“I can make shots from all over the court off the catch and dribble,” Perez explained to 247sports.com. “I’m a really good passer and will make sure everyone gets the touches they deserve and my passion for the game will allow my teammates to feed off my energy.”

Current NCAA transfer rules, Perez will sit one season before having two years of eligibility.
