Elevate Hoops Summer Icebreaker Championship: Notebook

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Teams enter July looking to get exposure. Sometimes it can end up with a championship.
Teams took advantage of the early Live Period opportunity to win a title. Some cruised through, while another program remains undefeated.
Here are the recaps.
Jersey Shore Warriors remains undefeated
Getting through the gauntlet of any tournament is difficult. Being able to remain undefeated throughout is even harder.
The Jersey Shore Warriors have figured out how to do so.
After some strong shooting and defensive effort, the Warriors held off Team Final Black 65-56, in the 17U Elevate Hoops Summer Icebreaker championship on Friday at Philadelphia University. On the summer travel circuit, the Warriors are 34-0.
Taylor Funk went on a scoring spree knocking down a number of shots to spark a run. The St. Joseph’s University commit finished with 12 points for the game. Eli Brooks led the team with 13 points, while Austin Gilbertson chipped in with 12.
Team Final attempted to chip away at the lead but was unable to get over the preverbal hump. Matt Cerruti, from Archbishop Wood, finished with 17 points. Collin Gillespie, from Archbishop Wood, chipped in with 12 points.
Legit takes home 17U silver championship
After stumbling out of the gate in its opening game, Legit Basketball still managed to walk away with a championship.
The Fort Wayne, Indiana organization beat Philly Pride 59-34 to win the 17U silver championship at Philadelphia University on Friday. They finished the first part of their East Coast trip with a 6-1 record.
Bright future ahead for We R1 as it sweeps championships
We R1 captured the 16U and 15U Gold championships with run away victories.
The 16U team used the duo of Isaiah Wong and Tyree Pickron to beat Team Final Blue 73-51 in Summer Icebreaker.
The duo combined for 41 points with Wong, Notre Dame, leading all scorers with 23 points. Pickron, Archbishop Wood, chipped in with 18 points by knocking down three 3-pointers. Alanzo Frink, from St. Joseph Mechan, added 13 points.
Team Final was led by its own backcourt. Sam Sessions, from Shipley School, scored a team-high 11 points. Justin Anderson, from FLC, added 10 point.
In the 15U game, We R1 did not waste any time jumping out toward winning a championship as it beat Team Final 56-31.
Chereef Knox led all scorers with 14 points. The Imhotep (PA) High product was unstoppable in and around the basket. Eric Dixon, a 6-foot-8 post, chipped in with 12 points. This along with some timely defense helped seal the victory.
Anthony Hoggard Jr. and Fa’hmir Ali finished with nine points each to lead Team Final Blue.
Warriors capture Silver championship
Jersey Shore Warriors Gold captured the 15U Silver championship in grand fashion with a 61-49 win over Baltimore United Gold.
