Young prospects shine at John Lucas All-Star weekend Part 2

By Darnell Johnson

HOUSTON, TX – The talent was plentiful during the John Lucas All-Start Weekend several weeks ago.

So much so, we have our second notebook of talented players who attended the March 4-6 event in H-town. Despite not being able to see some of those matchups we have an opportunity to check on much younger players.

Here is another list of the players who had outstanding weekends.

2026 G Jayden Washington (JL3-Jackson)

He was a deadly shooter that knew how to get open. Washington’s coming off of a screen and knocking down several shots off the dribble. He struggled at times when contested.

2026 PG Byron Green (JL3-Jackson)

He’s just a solid and very crafty point guard. Green seemed more than not to make the right plays. He didn’t try to do too much.

2026 F Michael Gibbs (JL3-Jackson)

The big fella had a good length and has a really good body. He has good hands but his skill set still is a little raw. Gibbs has a strong upside.

2026 G Jaylen Simmons (Texas Summit)

He’s a very quick lefty, who’s great at getting to the basket and finishing. Simmons is a streaky shooter who needs to make better decisions.

2026 G Trey Lewis (NY Gauchos)

A real long, quick, and bouncy wing that defended all positions. He was a straight dog on defense and stayed aggressive and attacking on the offensive end.

2026 PJ Singleton (NY Gauchos)

His is aggressiveness and how he handles the ball are something to enjoy. Singleton has a prototypical NYC guard game. He played downhill and attacked the paint no matter who was in the lane. His jump shot needs consistency.

2026 F Kristo Jackson (Uptempo Elite)

He’s a very patient wing that works to get his shot. Jackson plays under control and doesn’t force the action too much. He’s extremely versatile and an aggressive defender.

2026 PG Langston Adams (Houston Hoops)

He was a quick-savvy PG that was very good at controlling his teams. Adams made big shots and dropped dimes. He tried putting his team on his back.

2026 F Ziekas Garner (Houston Hoops)

A strong lefty guard that stayed on the attack and stayed finishing at the rim. He did knock down the occasional 3.

2026 G Christian Haskett (Blueprint Elite)

He was a big physical guard that was punishing on both ends. Haskett seemed to absorb contact and get wherever he wanted. His jump shot was a little streaky,

2026 G Taveion Ford (Texas Hardwork)

Ford’s incredible at attacking the basket and can finish above the rim. He has a great feel for the game and displays strong leadership.

2026 G Damien Ramirez (Texas Hardwork)

Ramirez’s a strong physical guard that plays with a good pace but knows when to turn up. He’s a straight-up goon.

2026 PG Nick Andreotti (Team Touch)

Andreotti’s a very crafty point guard with a high IQ. The way he navigates the lane and finishes through contact at the basket is impressive. To top it off, the young man had a sweet stroke.

2026 G Keegan Ladines (Team Touch)

This young man set the tone for the weekend on the defensive end. He picked up on defense 94 feet. Most of his damage on the offensive end was done going to the basket.

2029 G Kaden Mullins (Handle Life)

Don’t let the lack of size full you. He’s not big in size but plays with so much heart and energy. Mullins used his quickness to his advantage.

2029 F Ozzy Godinez (Handle Life)

Godinez’s stringy and physical. He set the tone on both ends for his team. His desire to attack the glass on both ends of the floor is fun to watch.

2029 F Harper Terry(Hand Life)

His energy and his skill set is so contagious. Terry had a nice touch and knew how to get to his posts. He was very creative around the basket.

2029 G Bryson Kennedy (Southern Assault)

The little fella had a nonstop motor and was very productive on both ends. He is a very good defender and was consistent offensively

2030 PG Nile11s Neumann (JL3-Perkins)

For a 4th grader, this young man has game. He a delight to watch. Neumann has handles and can stroke it and plays with attitude

2030 G Ray Peterson (JL3-Perkins)

This young lefty is aggressive and physical. He stays attacking the basket but can get a little reckless.

2030 F/C Kenxton Perkins (JL3-Perkins)

The big fella is raw but he’s active and stayed aggressive. He does have much potential.

2030 G Addison Bohac (Oklahoma Chaos)

For a fourth-grader, he was very crafty and intelligent. I was very surprised by his play.

2030 F Drayton Black (Oklahoma Chaos)

This little youngster was very hard to handle in the paint. He scored in bunches.

2030 Lavell Gates G (Oklahoma Chaos)

It was a delight to watch this young fella shoot. I haven’t seen too many fourth-graders shoots like him.
