Notebook: Select 60 showcase Part II

By Robert Alfonso Jr.

NORTH AUGUSTA, SC – The Lineage of Champion Select 60 showcase was loaded with players, from Augusta and the surrounding area, we had to make a Part II to our notebook. These players balled out at the Riverview Park Activities Center leaving their mark and impression to all those in attendance.

These players were matched up in different teams and coached by college coaches. There are plenty of names college coaches will soon be adding to their database. So much so, we had to breakdown the evaluation in parts.

Heere is Part II of the players who made the biggest impression.

Noah Towles | 2024 | Word of God | showed so much potential it exuded off the charts. This 6-foot point guard displayed strong leadership skills. He understood times to push the ball and when to run an offensive set. Towles played relentless in tight spaces. However, he surprised many with the ability to finish above the rim. Look for his name to be checked off as a major prospect in the Tar Heel State.

Khalon Hudson | 2023 | Westside High | is a 6-foot-5 guard who can get things done. He is physically stronger than many of his counterparts. Hudson’s offensive play is a combination of physical and finesse. He extends the floor with his shooting from beyond the arc. Things change up when the team needs a bucket, he will make sure to get it for the them immediately. There are little wasted movement in his game.

Amari Collins | 2024 | Word of God | is a good looking prospect, who will attract many college inquiries. He is a 6-foot-4 guard who can shoot over defenders  good looking player, nice jumper

Ricardo Gonzalez | 2022 | Lakeside | is an excellent spot up shooter. The 6-foot guard has a good looking form and release. He is proficient at getting to his spot and hitting tough shots.

Daethan Harris | 2022 | Jones County | was impressive based solely on things players do not display during showcase events. He took several charges and was locked in on the defensive end of the floor. The strong and poised, finishes well with either hand, makes winning defensive plays

Jaylen Sanford | 2023 | Jones County | is a good hard nose player who gets whatever he wants on the floor. The 6-foot-1 guard is a relentless back of energy. He always puts himself in the right place at the most opportune time. Look for him to create havoc this season leading to easy opportunities for him and his teammates.

Jack Cook | 2026 | Augusta Christian | may have been the youngest player at the camp but you really could not tell other than his baby face look. This 5-foot-11 guard as one of the smoothest strokes for a player his age. His release is high and fairly consistent. Cook’s understanding of the game was solid as he moved around without the basketball. When he gets the ball something good will happen.

Troy Booker | 2024 | Augusta Christian | is an excellent shooter. The 6-foot guard has a good frame and strength to handle the position. His last name, which is not related to the NBA star, is fitting for this youngster. There was not a shot he was unable to hit. This Booker is an efficient scorer, who makes the correct play every trip down the floor. There is no rush in his play.

Mychael Mitchell | 2023 | Northside Christian Academy | continues to show his ability to handle the point is an art form. This 6-foot-1 floor general has a change of pace in his game keeping defenders dancing. He runs the position with the fluidity of a conductor leading an orchestra. Whenever he is not leading the team or dropping off a smooth pass. Mitchell is getting to the paint and finishing with contact. His pull-up jumper was one of the best looking finishes in the showcase. Look for this floor leader to have a breakout season.

Elijah Crawford | 2024 | Augusta Christian | had some of the best WOW moments during the showcase. This 6-foot-2 guard is explosive in the open floor and agile enough to make some of the toughest shots in the gym. Crawford handles the ball like a yo-yo in the park, while also showing the ability to run the team. There is not a shot he cannot hit either open or through contact. His athleticism is off the charts box office. Easily the best part of his game is playing with a smile on his face. Things just looked attainable for him regardless of what was going on around him.
