North GA High School Showcase: Boys Notebook

By Robert Alfonso Jr.

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA – Basketball season is on the way in Georgia. The North Georgia High School Showcase held two events at Cherokee Bluff High and Buford High. Teams and players were ready to really showcase themselves on the hardwood after being quarantined for several months.

Below are some boys players who made an impact on the court.

2021 Shone Webb, Hart County – is a superb defender. When he sits down on the defensive end, this 6-foot-3 guard is locked in. The Emmanuel College commit plays with his heart on his sleeve. He is determined to make certain to keep his opponent below their average. Webb plays going downhill on the offensive end.

2021 Eli Pitts, Gainesville – delivered the highlight of the showcase. The 6-foot-4 guard passed up on the opportunity to knock down a three-pointer before posterizing a Discovery High defender. This is an example of this unsigned senior’s versatility. He can get to the rim as well as knock down shots from deep.

2021 Garrison Powell, Holy Innocent Episcopal School – has a knack for scoring. He knows how to get to the basket any which way the Bears need him to do so. Powell hit his average of 19 points a game in the team’s win over White County. Look for this unsigned senior to help carry the load this season under interim head coach Mario Mays.

Pierce Martin knocked down seven three-pointers in the Leopards’ upset win over Buford.

2021 Pierce Martin, Banks County – cannot be left alone. This unsigned senior will make anyone pay for giving him any space. He put on a shooting display against Buford to help pull off the upset. His shot and release are so fluid it snapped through the net.

2021 Justin Wilson, Holy Innocent Episcopal School – is a true point guard. He plays with a sense of poise and is not rushed too many times by defenders. Wilson puts teammates in simple scoring positions. He is more than capable of knocking down shots in critical moments.

2021 Clay Gosnell, Banks County – is a throwback floor general. He gets into the lane and understands how to run a team. When you think you have him bottled up, Gosnell will dance through and make the correct play. Gritty and poised would be the best way to describe his name.

2021 Robert Reisman, Gainesville – has a swag that hard to miss. The 6-foot-3 guard plays hard on both ends of the floor and with a chip on his shoulder. He is a shot-maker and a go-getter. He makes plays through traffic and above the rim.

2021 Brookes Kahlert, St. Pius X – is showed he is an extension of the head coach on the floor. The Golden Lions go as this Rollins College signee goes. He is not disrupted in any way on the floor. This leader directs traffic to put guys in the right place on the floor. When he isn’t directing traffic, Kahlert is knocking down shots. He plays with passion and the Tars are getting themselves a competitor.
