Lions don’t sweat victory after the third quarter
Mount Airy, GA – The Lakeview Academy girl’s basketball team’s explosive third quarter helped secure a 53-35 win over Morgan County in the Battle of the Moutain Top presented by the North Georgia High School Showcase.
Leading the surge for the Lions were Taliah Gaithers and Dynesty Putman. The duo combined for 35 points. Gaithers finished with 18 points, nine rebounds and 3 blocks. Putman chipped in with 17 points and four steals, including some critical stops in the third period. Lakeview remains undefeated (2-0) in the early portion of the season.
The first half was a close matchup. Both teams were feeling each other out. Neither one could get into a rhythm. Lakeview managed to take a 22-21 lead at halftime when Gaithers tipped in a missed shot at the buzzer.
Kymora Smith had seven points to lead Morgan County.
