ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – Talk about crashing the party and leaving a lasting impression.

This is exactly what the Connecticut Basketball Club did to win the Live in AC 17U championship. CBC beat Sports U 93-77 at Richard Stockton University.

“We knew teams were more athletic than us,” CBC coach Shacor Privott said. “We don’t think there are too many teams that can match-up with us across the country with five guys. We just told our kids they were going to have to figure it out.”

Privott’s players did more than figure it out they put on a clinic on how to beat a team more athletic and bitter than them. They just knocked down one three-pointers after another.

It started with 2017 Mike McGuirl who nailed a three-pointer from near half court. Things opened up after that because it seemed like everyone with a CBC jersey nailed a shot from beyond the arc.

Even when they were not getting open looks CBC was getting to the basket with easy. KeAndre Fair sliced up Sports U defenders, who failed to stay in front of him. At the end of the day, CBC drilled in 13 three-pointers.

Fair finished with a team-high 24 points. McGuirl poured in 20. Jaecee Martin added 14.

“We’re not big,” Privott said. “We had to find something on offense. We spread people out and had to get open for some three’s and also get layups.”

Sports U did not have much of an answer for the Connecticut club. When it did get into some rhythm Maxwell Mahoney was holding it down on the interior. The Ridge High product finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds. He got help from Nathaniel Pierre-Louis who had 19 points.
