Super 6 notebook filled with talented prospects Part I

POWDER SPRINGS, GA – The second Live Period of the summer took place all over the country. Teams re-packed and did laundry before heading to the hardwood in front of college coaches.

This included teams returning to On the Radar Hoops Super 6 Showcase at McEachern, Hillgrove, Kell and Wheeler. Those independent programs arrived with the desire to play against some of the best independent programs in the country or even the Southeast region.

Here are some players who to advantage of the weekend.

Latimer is a surgeon in the making, literally 

John Latimer III dreams of being orthopedic surgeon and is looking to get his foot onto a college campus at the tame time. The 6-foot-1 guard moves extremely well and plays in angles. His ball handling is tight and on a string. He handles pressure with the calm of a surgeon on operating room. The 2021 Apopka High product sets the tempo with his decision making and high IQ. He is tactical on the floor. Playing for the Q6 All-Stars the demands to play defense may be easier than medical school. Latimer lays it all out on the defensive end. While some programs are soon to start this young man can make a collegiate roster. He will be accepted into any campus with his 4.5 GPA. Don’t miss out the opportunity to have this future doctor and Rhodes scholar on your alumni list.

Dawson has quite the coaching fan base

Denim Dawson has become the most sort after recruiting after the first two weeks of July. The 6-foot-7 Southern Carolina Academy product is uber skilled an athletic. Any time the California Stars Black played college coaches from all over the country lined the baseline seating on the sideline stands to see the Class of 2022 product. Dawson put on a show. It did not matter if the quick release jumper was piercing the bottom of the net or he was cradling a rebound there was little stopping him. When his hops were activated there was usually a thunderous dunk in the end. Look for this two-star recruits offers to continue gaining traction. He currently holds offers from UC Santa Barbara, Murray State, Georgia Tech, Southern, IUPUI, Virginia Tech, George Mason, Loyola Marymount, TCU, UTSA, Pepperdine, Towson, Cal Poly, UAB and DePaul. 

Franklin is no longer an unknown prospect

Jamar Franklin is like an underground rapper. He may have come into the month of July as an unknown. The first two weekends when the lights shined the brightest, the 2022 Rockledge High product delivered some memorable moments. Over the weekend, during the Super 6, he delivered the best single-scoring performance of the weekend burning up the nexts for 36 points over Team Huncho.

During the first week of the July Live period, Franklin delivered another exciting performance. The 6-foot-3 guard nailed a game-winning jumper over EYBL Team Durant. This is when his name was penned onto many notepads. College coaches enjoyed his skill and his ability to compete. NC A&T, SIUE and South Alabama have since offered. More schools will soon pull the trigger on this one.

Timberwolves’ Allard and Hadaway fill it up

The shooting firm of Thomas Allard and Aiden Hadaway has been on tour all basketball season. Both players were required to provide the long distance effort for their high school teams, respectfully. It has continued on during the travel season. The have not skipped a beat in clipping the nets. They shooting tour continued and attracted some college coaches in the process. These guys are one of the more consistent performers from the perimeter in the Class of 2022 from Georgia. 

Allard, a 6-foot7 guard from North Gwinnett High, who can get going from the perimeter like no one in the state. He shoots in rhythm and every shot looks the same. One of his top performances during the Super 6 was a 23 point, six three-pointer stat stuffer. He holds offers from Army and Navy

Hadaway has a mixed bag of skills on the hardwood,. He is a player who can mix it up inside and out. Matchup problems for the opposing defenses.Hadaway has offers from Wofford, Jacksonville State, William & Mary Lipscomb, Belmont, Georgia, Ohio and Vanderbilt. 

Thompson is what college programs seek

Christian Thompson came into the showcase demonstrating exactly what college programs are looking for yearly. Many seek an interior player with some skills, instincts and a defensive presence inside. This 6-foot-8 forward made plays on both ends of the floor. The 2022 Homewood High product made sure to be a big presence inside. He has a nice touch and established himself all weekend, which caught the eye and interest of the college programs present.

Rechsteiner’s recruitment is rising

Brandon Rechsteiner making sure college coaches are paying attention. The Atlanta All-Stars floor general is crafty who can get ton just about any spot on the floor. He is a combination of Chris Paul and Trae Young. The attributes he demonstrates on the floor is something Etowah High fans are familiar with and college programs are paying attention of the Class of 2023 product.

Smith’s working paying off

Jaylen Smith has heard all the negative comments in the past. However, it has not stopped him from working. College coaches have had a chance to see him playing up for 1 Family where his effort caught the attention of anyone watching. The 5-foot-11 Edgewater High product handled the ball like the point guard position was made for him. Smith pulled up on defenders with his mid-range jumper. He dealt our room service passes to teammates. This explosive dynamite of a player pushes the ball up the floor with lightning speed. His stock will soon pick up steam.
