NEPTUNE, NJ – Every solid basketball team has at least two players they can lean on for success.

As the travel basketball circuit jumped of this past weekend, Rens 17U may have the next hottest duo to keep an eye on this summer in Christ the King’s Rawle Alkins & Sacred Heart High School’s Mustapha Herron. This duo put on a show during the Playaz Spring Fling.

Herron, from West Haven, CT, was relentless at getting to the basket, posting up smaller defenders and just showing a mental toughness fit for the Adidas Gauntlet. In a semifinal win over the New England Playaz, with Alkins out, the former Pittsburgh commit decided to just attack every defender like they owed him something. His effort continued in the championship win over Team Takeover Orange.

Alkins, from Brooklyn, NY, put on the show many expected to see. He shot the ball well, sliced through defenders like a cool summer breeze but one of the more over looked aspects of his game could be his passing. Alkins dropped off dimes willingly, including a few to his running mate Heron. The Christ the King junior holds offers from Cincinnati, Florida, Hofstra, Indiana, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Minnesota, Providence, Seton Hall, St. John’s and Villanova.

Here are some similarities between the two players. They are both 6-foot-4 with some college ready bodies. The differences Alkins is right-handed and Heron is a lefty. They both were named the Co-MVP of the Spring Fling.

This duo doesn’t currently have a nickname but here is the start of one: The A&H Show, which could use some work eventually.

Nevertheless, whatever this duo is called understand this: these two will do work this summer.
